At Powell Painting, we’re feeling re-energized and excited coming from an intensive 3-day planning workshop where we spent a lot of time refining the way we do business from lead generation to delivery of great service to our clients AND to our team members. We’ve had a lot of big wins on all fronts over the last couple years, but we recognized that we needed to “up our game” if we wanted to continue to grow, and to continue to deliver on our mission to be heroes to our clients and each other. Painting is a business many people tend to think is related to building and construction; but at Powell Painting, we recognized that it’s really about providing a valued service, which means working with people, not just tools and equipment.
First, we clarified our vision for growth, developing goals and milestones for the next 5 years.
Second, we homed in on our core business values and how to attract the team members and clients we want so that we can continue to build and reinforce our “brand DNA.”
Third, we examined the way we do business, what processes we have in place, and how we can be better, and we got it all down on paper so we could “map” the workflow from beginning to end.
Finally, we developed strategies for automating everyday tasks and creating reminders to ensure details don’t fall through the cracks.
But as part of our desire to acknowledge the human side of our business, we also did a lot of self-reflection, which included spending time with horses, which are highly sensitive to people’s personalities and energies. The beautiful creatures Cache and Powder served to reflect back to us the kind of energy we projected to others, and it was very instructive. And our coaches Isabelle Mercier, Margarita Romano, and Luciano DiMarino guided us through many rewarding and high-intensity brainstorming, strategizing, planning, and personal growth sessions. We put in a lot of hard work over the course of the workshop, but we came away with renewed clarity of purpose and clear action plans. It was a life-changing experience for us, and for our business. We can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on our business and our team. It’s going to be a great season!
